BUILD ON YOUR EXPERIENCE TO MAKE SOMETHING EXCEPTIONAL AT JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING

Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is bringing together professionals from a wide variety of occupations and backgrounds to make just one thing at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling: An impact.

From civil engineers and police officers to childcare providers, welders, craftsmen, and geospatial information specialists, we’re looking for the very best in their fields to fill mission-critical positions supporting the U.S. Air Force in the nation’s capital.

CLOSE TO THE HEART OF THE NATION’S CAPITAL, BUT EVEN NEARER TO ITS SOUL

Located on the banks of the Anacostia River in Southeast Washington DC, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is responsible for providing installation support to 17,000 civilian employees and their families and 48 missions within the Air Force, Navy, Marines, Joint Service Commands, and other Department of Defense related federal agencies.

Among its functions is providing ceremonial support for the White House and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of the Air Force, and the Air Force Chief of Staff through the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force Band.

Anacostia derives its name from the indigenous Nacochtank settlement of the Algonquin people known as the Anocostans, encountered by Captain John Smith in 1608 as he surveyed the area.

In 1917, the U.S. Navy chose the banks of the Anacostia for a seaplane base, becoming Naval Air Station Anacostia in 1918. It was in that same year two hangars and runways were added, and the land was given to the Aviation Section of the Signal Corps as the primary aviation facility for the capital city.

Today, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling sits just across the Anacostia River from Nationals Park, home to Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals, and is just a minutes’ drive from the National Mall, the halls of Congress, and the White House.
