Help train the greatest Air Force in the world

The U.S. Air Force is the most formidable air force on the planet. Respected and admired for the superiority of their aircraft as well as the skill of the pilots who fly them.

We are the team that trains the elite cadre of pilots at the heart of this mighty force. We guide student pilots from the classroom to the flight line. We train and retrain our experienced flyers in the latest systems and newest technology. And to keep them ready at a moment’s notice, we supervise and assist them while they invest hundreds of hours in flight simulator training at the finest facilities in the world.

Our aircraft are as specialized as our mission and require highly trained instructors to prepare pilots to fly them. That’s where we step in. We are pilots ourselves—or former pilots—eager to make our contribution to the success of the Air Force mission, standing shoulder to shoulder with the men and women who patrol and protect the skies.

Unlike our counterparts in business and industry, we at AFCS are committed to something far more important than the bottom line. We work every day in the defense of our nation and the values we hold dear.

AFCS simulator instructors are pilots in every sense of the word, required to have, at a minimum:

1,500 total flight hours as a pilot or a copilot in a fixed-wing aircraft
250 hours pilot and command time
500 hours as a flight instructor
75 hours of night flying
75 hours of instrument flying, including 10 hours in instrument conditions
Approved medical evaluation
Up-to-date civilian or military flight logs
If applicable, DD214 military service records

If you’re a pilot or former pilot and meet the criteria above, landing one of these coveted positions could be a cinch.

The U.S. Air Force flies the most sophisticated aircraft on the planet. Our pilots are second to none. Their skills and abilities are unmatched anywhere. They are the best because they’ve learned from the best there is.
